How to best savour the flavour from your vape juices

If you’re new to vaping and the idea of generating the biggest clouds possible and becoming a cloud chaser sounds like heaven, you’re in luck; the Internet is full of guides and videos dedicated to showing you how. But what if you’re a flavour freak? What if your big aim as a vaper’s to savour the very best taste on offer from e-liquids? Here the ’Net’s somewhat less forthcoming. All the more reason then to check out following guide on the subject…

Keep your device clean

No question, to successfully garner the best possible flavour from an e-liquid, making sure your wicks, coils and tanks are clean is a big must. Now sure, should you almost always be switching between e-juices, you’re hardly going to be changing your coil all the time, yet it would arguably also be wise to avoid mixing flavours just as often. You might even consider having one or two tanks to alternate between when you change between flavours in the e-liquids you choose to vape – that way you’ll be able to clean out a tank (when you’re not using it because you’re using the other) and let it dry out before using it again.

Power and temperature

The simplest way to enhance vape flavour – and perhaps the most satisfying – is to use an e-cig device, such as a customisable mod, that enables you to adjust the power (wattage) and electrical resistance (ohms), thus resulting in varying temperatures at which the coil heats the e-liquid and transforms it to vapour for you to, yes, savour. The idea is to turn up the wattage, especially, to increase the temperature gradually until you reach the taste that suits you best. It’s a process of trial and error, but fun nonetheless, as it’s all about experimentation and mastering your personal vaping equipment.

Find the right e-liquid

Of all the ingredients that make up e-liquids, it’s their vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) amounts that tend to affect what flavour they’ll possess, naturally speaking. Now, while for generating big plumes of smoke, opting for PG-heavy fluids is best, flavour-wise it’s pretty much always best to aim for a 50/ 50 PG/ VG mix or above or one weighted in PG’s favour. This is because PG’s a better carrier of taste than VG.

Airflow experimentation

Experimenting with airflow through your vaping device can also enhance the flavour of your e-juice; just be sure you’re not overzealous how much you close up the airflow, though. Should you close it too much, the vapour creation will drop off too much and the fluid could potentially overheat. The trick then is to do as you would with adjusting wattage and temperature – begin with a low airflow and slowly increase it to the point the flavour you find is what you’re happy with.

Choosing the right atomiser

Selecting the correct atomiser for your vape device can be crucial in successfully maximising flavours but, that said, personal preference here plays a big, big role, of course. So, bottom coil atomisers are highly advised for getting the most out of vaping fluids’ flavours because they don’t see the wick absorb the e-liquid to the coil like top coil alternatives do. Is your tank capable of running sub-ohm coils – that is, accommodate low resistance settings? If so, you’ll doubtless see a marked difference in the quality of flavour you’re able to extract from the e-liquids you choose.
