KEEPING A TAB ON YOUR DRY HERB SMELLS

Taste and smell when dry herb vaping can be a great indicator of your vaporisers health.

That instant aroma of CBD and cannabis is one of the first things you’ll notice when dry herb vaping. The sweet punch is a real wake up call, the soothing aroma a universally acknowledged pleasure which lets you know that your device is in full working order. The distinctive smell of cannabis based dry herbs is something which all tastes can agree on is a welcome addition to the vaping world. With a wide range of vape flavours already available, the taste and smell palette has widened even further with the introduction of dry herb. It goes without saying then, that whether you’re using a Pax vaporiser or an old school vape pen, smell is an important factor in drawing customers away from tobacco. Smell means everything, and if the smell seems off, then you might have a problem.

Chemical smelling vapour

One of the great things about vaping dry herb is that it is almost completely natural matter. If it emits a chemical smell, it might be a sign that your dry herb is very low in quality. This could mean that there are insecticides or pesticides in your herb. If this is the case, invest in a new batch. It could also mean that the device you are using is broken, or has melted internally, in which case stop vaping with it, your breathing in plastic and metal!

Burnt smelling vapour

Often, if your vapour is smelling like burning then it could be one of several problems. Nothing in a vaporiser should be burning, hence why they are often called heat not burn devices. If you have a variable wattage or voltage device or temperature control settings, then you might have your output at a too high a setting for the battery to handle. Another reason for the burnt smell when vaping might be that your coil needs replacing. Used up coils can weaken over time, producing less vapour and not heating the oil, herb or liquid correctly. This can lead to the liquid “cooking” on the coil and burning instead of vaporising. The coil itself might be breaking down as well, meaning that there is a horrible burnt metal smell.

Weak smelling vapour

If the smell is weak, it is probably because your temperature, wattage or voltage settings are low. Contrasting to the burnt smelling vapour, the weak smelling is often down to your vapour settings being too low. Increase these to ensure that your vapour output is efficient and tasty.

Rancid smelling vapour

A rancid smelling vapour might be a sign that your dry herb has been contaminated during its creation. Whether it was grown in a factory or a London E cigarette shop, there are plenty of pollutants which could undermine the growing process. Due to current health and safety standards, this is quite rare, but has been known to happen. If this is the case, the stop vaping immediately, especially if you don’t know what material you are inhaling.
