TOP TIPS TO AVOID SPIT BACK

Vape devices can create a whole range of unprecedented noises and don’t always work the way we want them to. Like any other piece of tech, they require maintenance and love from their users. One of the many setbacks’ vapers can face is the unpleasant feeling of spit back.

What is spit back?

Spit back is when a problem within your vape device leads to the vape juice inside not being heated up properly. Instead of being vaporised and inhaled, the vape juice is “cooked” and congeals on the coil. This leads to bubbling and spitting vape juice in your device boiling and bubbling. Some of this vape juice might spit back out of your mouth piece, leading to a nasty – and hot – surprise for the unsuspecting vaper. Whilst it won’t be dangerous, no one wants bitter tasting hot vape juice spitting into their mouth during a vape session.

One of the main indicators that you might be in danger of spit back is if your device is making a gurgling sound, so when you start to hear abnormal noises coming from your device, you know it might time to take pre-emptive measures to defend against vape juice turned bitter.

Up your wattage

One reason for your coil causing spit back may be that you are vaping at too low a wattage. Many London E cigs now come with variable wattage controls. This means that you can lower and increase the power your battery exudes when heating the vape juice in your device, and the lower the power settings, the less vape juice will be vaporised. This will lead to excess vape juice on the wick and coil which will heat up slower, congealing and eventually building the potential for spit back.

Change your coil

Coils are made from a range of metals, and like with all metals, an exposure to heat will lead to its eventual degradation via the process of oxidation. Coils will last up to a month, and if it starts to affect the taste of your vapour, either through less taste or a distinct burnt taste, then your coil is ripe for the cooking. If any of these warning signs show themselves, it’s time to install a new coil.

Refill your e liquid

Dry hits on your vape device can lead to inhaling the only thing left in your device, congealed e liquid. You’ll be able to tell if you need to refill your tank as the taste will be weaker than before.

Change your inhale

Those who are ex-smokers may be more sued to taking longer inhales. This means that when you start vaping, you’ll be more likely to take longer drags. With vaping comes a new way of inhaling, the direct to lung method, which requires a softer drag for a lot more vapour.

Don’t oversaturate your wick

If you’re using a dripper atomiser, make sure to only drip a few drops of vape juice onto your atomiser. Wicks need very little to become saturated enough for vaping, and too much can flood your device, making cooked vape juice more likely.
