Where’s vaping headed? What to expect by the year’s end

Like it or not, we’re already halfway through 2018 and before we know it we’ll hurtling towards the winter and another new year. But what will this mean to the vaping world? What will it look like, will we all conclude come the end of December? What will have changed; what will have remained the same? What will be new; what will feel like old-hat?

Well, like it or not, we can be sure of one thing in particular when it comes to e-cig devices and all their supporting paraphernalia, things will have moved on, advanced and evolved; however large or great. It’s the nature of the vaping industry that’s one driven by innovation, technological evolution and the demand for new, improved and more customisable experiences on the part of vapers.

So, taking a look in our crystal ball then, here’s what we think the vaping world will look like as we prepare to welcome in 2019…

Cigarettes will have become even less popular

The message that smoking tobacco’s a dirty, hugely unhealthy habit that potentially puts your life at risk seems to be hitting home more all the time. And it certainly does appear that an increase in vaping – no doubt because more and more smokers who wish to quit are realising it’s probably the most effective method that might try to get off cigarettes – is continuing to coincide with an ever-present slide in smoking numbers. As vaping numbers (among would-be-ex-smokers as well as non-smoking vapers) are steadily rising all the time, the NHS has been heavily promoting vaping as a healthy alternative to smoking – yes, their campaigns are actively encouraging people to make the switch. Aside from the fact that the statistical reality that vaping’s 95 percent less harmful to the body than smoking is hitting home more and more, people are waking up to the fact it’s a comparatively clean and discrete activity, leaves no mess or lingering smell and the passive-harm from vaping is negligible (as it is for a vaper themselves).

Vaping will have evolved even more

The rise and rise of vaping over the last decade has been nothing short of phenomenal. From niche hobby status to an open activity indulged in by any number of people you pass on the high street, e-cigs and all their paraphernalia have spread like wildfire throughout the UK – and the wider world. Fundamentally, this irresistible surge in popularity has actually been down to swift technological advances in vaping – one occurring after the other; just as with digital technology (e.g. mobile phones and downloading music). There’s absolutely no reason to assume that, by the end of 2018, this advancement will have slowed; not when vapers are eager to further customise their vaping experiences via new coils, batteries, tanks, flavours and, of course, new devices, mods and more. Especially when an increasing number of vape kits are becoming more accessible, resulting in increased demand and lower prices. All this means another technology jump could be just around the corner – before the end of the year? You never know.

Public opinion will have become more positive

The naysayers, the doom-mongers, the ideologues and those in the media looking for an axe to grind for no other reason than to publish a ‘story’ won’t have given up their pronouncements of the dangers of vaping and how it’s supposedly so harmful to one’s health, yet as more and more evidence to the contrary surfaces – and with UK Government-related organisations slowly seeing the light and gradually softening their stances – it’s likely that, come the end of the year, more people up and down the country will at least not fear vaping (health-wise) like they may have done before. It stands to reason that, with the wind lapping at its – albeit fairly lightly, but still – vaping will have gained more admirers than haters by the end of December.

Mouth-to-lung kits will be a bigger deal

Mouth-to-lung vaping (or MTL, as it’s commonly referred to) has risen in such popularity that it’s arguably the most popular vaping type at present. Could this mean that MTL will dominate the vaping industry in time? Perhaps. Whatever happens in the medium- to long-term, there’s a good chance that, by the end of this year, it’ll be obvious there’s been a spike in the sales of MTL vaping kits. But why? Well, simply because mouth-to-lung is the kind of vaping experience that’s closest to smoking; when one draws the smoke for the ciggie directly down into the lungs before releasing it up and out through the mouth. That said, with an increase of a type of device comes a variation in quality – so be considered in what you choose between when it comes to the e-cig device (MTL or not) you choose as a newbie or as an experienced vaper looking to upgrade. Only choose and buy from a well-reviewed vape shop London, or from anywhere in the country or anywhere that’s well-recommended online.
